On March 1st, the party committee of our institute was informed that the students’ potential safety hazard should be thoroughly investigated. Our class cadres accomplished the investigation at short notice. They had contacted with all the doctors (10 doctors) and the graduate students (158) for knowing their mental health state in detail by different ways such as phone chat, face-to-face conversation, WeChat and so on.
Four doctors are about to graduate facing the problem of employment. The rest of the doctors concentrate on their experiments and dissertations. In 2019, 8 of 42 third-year graduate students are waiting for their job offers and the publication of their papers. At the same time, they are working hard at their final academic dissertations. 11 second-year academic graduate students and 20 second-year professional graduate students have already published their papers. According to all these students’ average study condition, the cadres of the first-year graduate students held a video conference and settled 6 questionnaires including 6 vital aspects for testing their mental health state including: 1. What problems do they have in their experiments? 2. Do they get along well with their teachers and classmates? 3. Do they face the economic difficulties? Have they ever borrowed money in the way of the online loan? 4. Do they feel that they are under the high pressure of study? 5. Have they ever been disorder in their daily routine? Have they ever had insomnia? 6. What help do they need in their study? Through these questionnaires we found out that all of 55 students are in good mental health state. The results also show that they are satisfied with their school life and can concentrate on their courses. And two thirds of the students do their experiments under the help of their teachers and upper classmates.
