In this golden autumn season of October, the CERS’s “warm winter” one of the volunteering series was started from 27th October for the blind school in Taiyuan Province. With the original intention of helping people this activity do bring the warm to the children in need and spread the positive energy for the whole society.
Before the activity began, the volunteers tried their best to find the games suitable for the children in the blind school through a large scale searching. Finally, they decided to adopt some simple and interesting activities such as clapping hand exercise and radish down and so on. Besides, they also prepared fruit, snacks and small gifts for the children. With consideration for the particularity of the students in the blind school they prepared the solutions in advance for the possible problems in the activities. After the volunteers had gathered at the Shanxi University they took on the bus to the school. On the way, they were all in good order showing the good spirit the college students should have. After arriving at the school, they set up the field and quickly found the children they were paired with and communicated with them enthusiastically. These children are different in age, some are active, some shy, but same in inbeing. Although they have some problems with their eyesight, which can not affect their childlike character. After the opening of the game, clapping hand exercise, the children's enthusiasm was clearly animated by the upbeat rhythm. They actively stood on the stage, flapping their hands with the music and their gurgling laughter. There was nothing of the shyness on the children’s face but the bright smile. During a short rest，the volunteers handed out a variety of fruit snacks and talked to the children. All the children enjoyed the snacks and the conversations. Some children appreciated the volunteers’ care and shared their snacks with them. Then came the interesting radish squat game. Just like the old saying goes: the fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose. All volunteers were also filled with touching. Then the interesting game radish down began. Although their vision is not good, but they have their own concept of this colorful world such as red turnips, blue turnips and so on. This surprised all the volunteers and gave a new recognition towards the world of the blind. The final part of the show brought the children's versatility to life. They performed the ancient poetry recitation, singing, telling jokes and so on. These children really gave us an eye-opening show. And the volunteers also did a great job. The children were too attracted by a piece of erhu playing performed by our volunteer to let the player away and asked this patient "erhu teacher" about the skill of the erhu playing. The situation was warm and touching. These children also have their own colorful life and the pursue of the future life. All these make people totally ignore their differences from us. In fact, except the text books their campus life are not different from ours. Although they have a physical defect, they must expect no particular care but the same treatment to the ordinary person. The warmth permeated the entire stadium. This volunteer activity not only bring our love to the blind children, but also let more and more people understand that they are not a special group in people's eyes, but just like us.
All in all, we wish the children in the blind school can grow up happily and the volunteers can stick to their original intention and forge ahead.
